5 Simple Tips to Rearrange Your Postponed Wedding

2020 has been particularly heart wrenching for all the couples who had planned their wedding for this year.

All of the hard work and wedding planning, and saving, and hen and stag do’s and arrangements have all had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

Obviously, the health and safety of our loved ones always comes first, but it doesn’t make the decision to any less difficult.

WIth over 100,000 weddings reportedly cancelled, 2021 is already starting to look extremely busy as all the postponed 2020 weddings are rearranged.
 
If you have postponed your wedding, or are indeed already getting married in 2021, what can you do to make things a little bit easier on yourself:

1.

The first thing is to breathe. It’s not ideal, we know, but there are,  honestly, a few positives to come out of this situation. Take the time to really think about what you’d like your wedding to be. Lockdown has given us all chance to stop and reflect, and just get off the bandwagon. Maybe it’s given you a new renewed perspective about what is important to you?

The second thing to do is to accept that this is an unknown quantity. Whilst we are all hoping 2021 brings normality back it is still very uncertain, so it’s important that you make new plans with this in mind. For example, checking your contracts carefully, paying with credit cards for additional protection and taking out wedding insurance is advisable (check comparethemarket.com for offers.)

Make savings where you can. For example, do you now have the time to make your own decorations? (Although, do check with your venue as we have heard of charges for bringing your own accessories.) Speak to your wedding stationery supplier and see what they are offering to help reduce the costs of replacement invites etc. We are offering digital downloads of all stationery at greatly reduced rates for our clients as we understand how difficult it must be for them.

Don’t delay rebooking your photographer, caterers, band, DJ, videographer, car etc etc. 2021 is going to be so busy and we know how stressful it is arranging all the suppliers you need once, let alone twice. With all the rebookings it could be even harder to get everyone you need coordinated on the same day. If it’s a workable possibility, you may want to consider a week day if you are finding it a struggle.

Believe, and know, that your day will come! If your wedding date hasn’t passed yet, arrange something special to do. Mark it, and enjoy with the special people in your life (in line with government advice of course!) Accept help from people. It’s a lot to re-organise and re-create but if we’ve learnt anything, it’s that we are stronger together and one thing is for sure, it will mean even more when you do say ‘I do’ for real.
